Scaffolding: A way for supporting learners in e-learning environments
Authors
Abstract:
Introduction: One of the effective ways to help learners improve their learning in learning environments is scaffolding. Scaffolding can be defined as teachers, other learners and resources support of learner on tasks that can’t be done alone. Experts strongly demand scaffolding to be used to help learners on abstractive and complex issues. The aim of this study is to examine the scaffolding for help learners in order to overcome lack of skills needed for learning. Method: This is a review article and findings were extracted by examining relevant resources in scientific databases like Science Direct، Ebsco ,Emerald & Sage in a period 2000 to 2014. Findings: In this research, after a literature review, Scaffolding design strategies in e-learning environments were investigated. Conclusion: In e-learning environment, besides important factor of effective instructional design, supporting learners by using scaffolds is essential. Technological scaffolds can provide procedural and metacognitive supports for processes classroom and therefore support the learning process.

Technology for Supporting Learners in Out-of-School Learning Environments
In this paper, we present an evaluation of the role that software played in promoting collaborative scientific participation in a learning community driven by learners’ interests and goals. In our analysis of an out-of-school learning environment we designed and implemented to promote scientific engagement, we found that the software was not always at the forefront in the learning environment. ...

Introduction: The collaborative learning and interactive electronic-learning (e- learning) is one of the key factors in education system success. This study examined the collaborative e-learning in the framework of constructivism theory. Methods: This is a review article. The databases such as Scientific Information Databases, Magiran, Science Direct, and Google Scholar were reviewed. Also,...
full textSupporting Self-Directed Learners and Learning Communities with Sociotechnical Environments
Making learning part of life is an essential challenge for inventing the future of our societies. Lifelong learning is a necessity rather than a possibility or a luxury to be considered. Self-directed learning (often occurring as learning on demand in response to breakdowns) is the dominant form of lifelong learning. The power of the unaided individual mind is highly overrated. Although society...
full textAccessing e-Learners' Knowledge for Personalization in e-Learning Environment
e-Learning has become a trend in the world nowadays. However, most researches neglect a fundamental issue – the e-Learner’s prior knowledge on which the useful intelligent systems are based. This research employs the e-Learner’s prior knowledge and mines his/her interior desire on appropriate target courses or materials as a part of a personalization process to construct the overall e-Learning ...
full textInstructional Design Interventions for Supporting Self-Regulated Learning: Enhancing Academic Outcomes in Postsecondary E-Learning Environments
Theories and models about self-regulated learning are important to educators attempting to understand why some learners succeed and others have difficulty in academic settings. Understanding self-regulation in e-learning environments is critical because there is much agreement in the literature that e-learning requires a higher degree of self-regulation than face-to-face learning. Furthermore, ...
